March 19 – He Carries, Bears, Saves

“You who have been carried by Me from birth And have been carried from the womb; Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will carry you! I have done it, and I will bear you; And I will carry you and I will save you.” – Isaiah 46:3b-4  (NASB)

We all had a mother who gave us life while we developed in her womb for nine months. When we were born our mothers cared for us and carried us with that care from that time until we left home as a mature young adult. For some this was a mother who adopted us. Normally by the time we are old age, our mothers have gone and are no longer with us. But God also has been with us from the time of our conception, knitting us together in our mother’s womb and then watching over as we grow and develop. But God is never done. He is always with us carrying us just as our verse says. Even when our hair turns gray and for some falls out or thins out, God is carrying us. He has done it and continues to. The things God promises to do to help us all our lives is to carry us! It is as if He has already done so, and will bear, and carry again, and finally save us.  Yes at the end if we have believed God saves us from eternal death and gives us eternal life.

November 29 – Daily Dumping the Anxiety

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalm 68:19 (NIV)
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”  1 Peter 5:7  (NIV)

Imagine the life of the Lords and Ladies who have someone to attend to all their physical needs as seen on TV programs and movies.  But the servants from downstairs cannot carry the burdens, the worries of those they served.  We have two verses today and we are reminded by our verses that our God is concerned about us and He actually bears our burdens and He wants us to throw them off by  giving them to Him. Our burdens are the matters that cause us great concern and make us afraid.  Since God is ready to care these things for us, we do not have to be concerned about them, do we? Either we try to bear up under their weight or we let God fulfill this promise to bear them for us.  Since God is going to carry my burdens, why should I continue to try carry them?  I'll just get in His way.  Really, what God is waiting for is for us to cast these matters onto Him.  Note one other very special word – the word “daily.” Is that not great?  He will take our burdens today and if something else comes up tomorrow, He will take that, too, and so on day after day!

April 5 – Daily Awareness and Attention

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.” Psalm 68:19 (ESV)

We find in the book of Psalms in our Bible reminders of the many reasons for praising our God. Isn't it wonderful to have a God  in heaven who is concerned about the problems that we face?  And He knows what these problems are too.  One of the best words in our verse is the word “daily.”  Our burdens may vary from one day to another and our God is aware of each detail each day.  So as we faced some problems yesterday, our Lord was concerned and He helped us. Now today the situation may have changed and as we continue to commit it to Him He helps us today. And, then, whatever the situation may be tomorrow He'll take care of us then too.  Isn't this all a part of God's faithfulness? He knows you, my friend and knows what you need each day. He has promised to bear our burdens daily.  Let's continue to trust Him for that promise.
