“He who [wrote these messages] will
be greatly disappointed if it does not lead many to the Lord Jesus. It is sent
forth in childlike dependence upon the power of God the Holy Spirit, to use it
in the conversion of millions, if He so pleases. No doubt many poor men and
women will take up following this little blog, and the Lord will visit them
with grace. To answer this end, the very plainest language has been chosen, and
many simple expressions have been used. But if those of wealth and rank should
happen to read these daily posts, the Holy Spirit can impress them also, since
that which can be understood by the unlettered is nonetheless attractive to the
instructed. Oh that some might read it who will become great [followers of
Jesus Christ and His commission to make disciples in all the world.]
We borrowed from "All of
Grace" by C.H. Spurgeon (1886), these words as our Mission and Vision of
this daily blog. Not the normal format
of such statements, it does cover the purpose and heart of this effort to bring
glory to the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Some [editing] has been
applied to more properly fit the format of this blog "90 Seconds with
God's Promises".
