November 10 – Far Far Back Before Everything

“Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.”  - Psalm 139:16 (NASB)

So far, over the last two days we’ve considered the attributes of God that describe his knowledge of everything and his presence everywhere. There is nothing God doesn’t know. There is nowhere He needs to go to for He’s already there He’s in all places. Those are pretty awesome characteristics. God also is all powerful. We acknowledge that our omnipotent God has nothing He cannot do. Although God doesn’t and cannot sin, it is because only those born in sin are slaves to sin. God is not a slave to sin because He is holy He cannot become a sinner. And, God’s omnipotence is how He can create a human and He does this within our mother’s womb. God is the one who makes us how we are. He predestines each of our days, our verse says, he does so when yet they was none of them. In Ephesians 1:3-4, we learn that each who believe in God were created by and were chosen by Christ before the foundation of the earth for salvation. We humans are made not by accident but for God’s purpose and out of his love and omnipotent might.

August 04 – Before All Things In Love

“Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:4-5 (ESV)

God’s call of Jerimiah as a prophet, contained a message intended to motivate Jeremiah for the task God was giving him. Take a moment to recognize that this passage reveals to us God’s omniscience – that is, His knowledge of everything past present and future in our time frame. God tells Jeremiah that He had selected him to be His prophet even before Jeremiah had been formed in his mother’s womb. God has plans for His own that are made before our existence. The promises he has given to us have been given decades and centuries before we were conceived and born. Let’s not be led astray thinking this is reincarnation or the like. This is not reincarnation; it is God’s all-knowing cognizance of Jeremiah and God’s sovereign plan for him before he was conceived. The word ‘knew’ means far more than intellectual knowledge. It conveys the sense of God’s close personal loving relationship with Jeremiah and with us. Trust this promise because God says that before the foundation of the world was made, God chose us in Him. We’ve been in God’s plan for longer than we can comprehend. He has done all for us in love (Ephesians 1:3-14).

March 19 – He Carries, Bears, Saves

“You who have been carried by Me from birth And have been carried from the womb; Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will carry you! I have done it, and I will bear you; And I will carry you and I will save you.” – Isaiah 46:3b-4  (NASB)

We all had a mother who gave us life while we developed in her womb for nine months. When we were born our mothers cared for us and carried us with that care from that time until we left home as a mature young adult. For some this was a mother who adopted us. Normally by the time we are old age, our mothers have gone and are no longer with us. But God also has been with us from the time of our conception, knitting us together in our mother’s womb and then watching over as we grow and develop. But God is never done. He is always with us carrying us just as our verse says. Even when our hair turns gray and for some falls out or thins out, God is carrying us. He has done it and continues to. The things God promises to do to help us all our lives is to carry us! It is as if He has already done so, and will bear, and carry again, and finally save us.  Yes at the end if we have believed God saves us from eternal death and gives us eternal life.

July 21 – He Never Fails

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.”  - Isaiah 49:15  (ESV)

It is nearly impossible to think that a mother would desert her own child.  So young, the baby needs everything to live from their mother. Food, shelter, comfort, much more. Although most mothers are very consistent and dedicated in their care of their babies, it is possible that a mother might lapse sometimes. The Lord’s care for His children goes beyond that which we humans show to each other as adults. It is a beautiful sight to see a mother loving and caring for her little baby and to sense how she feels about her little one. The Lord wants us to know that His love for us is even greater and His care for us is even more tender.  There are occasions when the task of caring for a baby is too much for a young mother and babies get neglected and maybe even deserted.  But God promises that He never forgets and never deserts us. He will never fail to care for us. Our every need will be met by Him, His love, and His care is divine and eternal. What is your need today? God knows.  Turn to Him and find the help you need.
