November 29 – Daily Dumping the Anxiety

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalm 68:19 (NIV)
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”  1 Peter 5:7  (NIV)

Imagine the life of the Lords and Ladies who have someone to attend to all their physical needs as seen on TV programs and movies.  But the servants from downstairs cannot carry the burdens, the worries of those they served.  We have two verses today and we are reminded by our verses that our God is concerned about us and He actually bears our burdens and He wants us to throw them off by  giving them to Him. Our burdens are the matters that cause us great concern and make us afraid.  Since God is ready to care these things for us, we do not have to be concerned about them, do we? Either we try to bear up under their weight or we let God fulfill this promise to bear them for us.  Since God is going to carry my burdens, why should I continue to try carry them?  I'll just get in His way.  Really, what God is waiting for is for us to cast these matters onto Him.  Note one other very special word – the word “daily.” Is that not great?  He will take our burdens today and if something else comes up tomorrow, He will take that, too, and so on day after day!

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalm 68:19 (NIV)

These words remind us that our God is concerned about us. We read that He bears our burdens. Our burdens, of course, are the matters that cause us great concern. So if God is really to take care of such things, we do not really have to be concerned about them. If God is going to carry my burdens, why should I continue to carry them? Really what He is waiting for is that I turn such matters over to Him. Note one other very special word – the word “daily.” Is that not great? He will take my burdens today and if something else comes up tomorrow, He will take that, too, and so on day after day!

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

I would like to direct your attention to one word in the verse. It is the word SUSTAIN. It really means to hold from underneath. So we are not invited to throw off our cares and burdens and then go on living in our own strength. No, God not only takes the cares that we commit to Him, but he carries us, too. He carries our concerns and He carries us as well. He promises in verses 10 and 13 in Isaiah 41 that he will uphold us with His righteous right hand and then that He upholds our own right hand. Remember your Lord wants to support you and he will not let you be shaken.
