January 23 – No Disappointing Hope

Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground; they will lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who hope in me will not be disappointed.” Isaiah 49:23 (NIV)

The words of today's verse are part of a special prediction that God wanted His people to hear. The message was given to God's prophet Isaiah and delivered to his people. Although we don't believe that this specific prediction in the first part of the verse applies directly to us today, we are fully confident that the promise of hope we have read just now, do apply to us. We have this confidence because God doesn't change. He is still the same as He was in Isaiah's day. Perhaps we have found ourselves disappointing because we have placed our confidence and expectation in someone that has let us down. God will not let us down. When He keeps His promise to us it confirms for us that He is our God. When He answers our prayer it reminds us that He is true. God said in our verse that we will not be disappointed when we place our hope, our expectation in Him. He will always fulfill our expectation of His promises. Today is a good day to look to Him to fulfill His promises.
