“Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.” Isaiah 33:2 (NIV)
When we become children of God we are given a new nature with new desires. We have a longing for God and for what He offers. This desire for the experiences of His presence with us is a part of the Christian's life. Our verse today is a prayer from the prophet Isaiah and it can be our prayer also. Each day we can say to God as the prophet did “We long for You.” And, just as the prophet did, we can also awaken in the morning experiencing the extra strength that comes from faith in God. All of us need God's help each day – in the morning and in times of special need when circumstances of our lives bring distress. Our promise today is that God will supply all that we need. Let's pray with the confidence that Isaiah had, God is with us and will be gracious to us, it is His promise.
