December 19

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” John 12:46 (NIV)

The lights at Christmas can remind us of the great light which the shepherds of Bethlehem saw and the star which the wise men followed. But more important is the fact that Jesus came as a Light for a darkened world. He, Himself, later explained this. As your Savior He has brought light into your life. It may be, however that we can go through dark hours at times. How should a believer deal with such experiences? The answer is in the words Jesus spoke about Himself in our verse today. He said that no one who believes in Him should stay in darkness. That is how to deal with a dark moment – just believe, trust in Him and the light will come.
