The psalmist had learned many things about God in his life but of all he had learned there were two very important facts about God that stood out in his mind when he wrote this Psalm. They are facts that you and I should know and never forget. We need to remember that our God is strong. He is so strong that we recognize he is all powerful. There is nothing or no one who has greater strength or power than God. God never comes up short in the power department. God is able to do wonderful things and we should never doubt His ability to do great things for us. At the same time let's not forget that this All Mighty God deals with us in love. Things that he could do He will not do because He loves us. Things we deserve because of our sinfulness will not be delivered because of His love for us. We can be confident that His love, which will never fail, will determine how he shows his power to us. What is good for us, He will do because he can do it and he loves us.

June 10 – He Will Because of His Unfailing Love
“One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; Psalm 62:11-12a (NIV)

April 4 - Able In Every Circumstance
“Yet their Redeemer is strong; the Lord Almighty is his name. He will vigorously defend their cause so that he may bring rest to their land, but unrest to those who live in Babylon.” Jeremiah 50:34a (NIV)
There is so much in the Bible to give us encouragement as we live our lives and there is nothing that encourages us more than to be reminded what kind of God we have. The setting of this verse is from the perspective of those who were left to live in Jerusalem when all the rest were carried off in captivity to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. And though these words are about how God cared for His people in this time of the Old Testament, we can believe that these words also apply to the way God helps us who trust in Him these days. Yes, it is encouraging to know that our Redeemer is strong and that He is all-powerful. When we face problems in our lives and are unable to handle things by ourselves we learn that it is God who is able in every circumstance. When we trust him to do it, he will do it vigorously. That’s encouraging, isn’t it?

“Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 124:8 (NIV)
This is how the psalmist sums up a song of praise. In the previous verses he has praised God for helping His people when they were severely threatened. They had been in great danger but God had protected them, and the reason why God had been able to do that was explained by who He is – the maker of heaven and earth. That is why we can depend on our God to help us. It is because of who He is. He is the same as the God we read about. He is the great creator. To make heaven and earth He had to have all power. Remember, your God is all powerful. He made the whole universe. He can do what needs to be done for you.
