“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!” Psalm 115:1 (ESV)
Are we satisfied that we are praising the Lord as much as we should? Here is a good pattern for praising Him. This verse is made of words of praise, are they not? To praise God means to give Him glory. It means to lift up his name in praise. But now we realize that God is in heaven and that the glory of heaven is because God is glorious. He is there in all His glory. How could we do anything to add to His glory? Actually, when we praise God it helps to develop an accurate concept of Him and the concept that those who hear us have of Him. Our idea of what God is and how He deals with us, His creatures, becomes more glorious in our minds and hearts. We begin to understand God the way He wants us to. Never fully but more and more His manifestation become strong for us and our thoughts of God are of His love and faithfulness.
