October 16 – Right Ways

“He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” Psalm 23:3 (ESV)

Psalm 23 is likely the most familiar chapter in the Bible for believers and even for those who choose to not believe in God.  Normally  it is presented in full but if just a part, then most often verse 1 is the one that is quoted “The Lord in my Shepherd, I shall not want.”  Each of the six verses contain promises that comfort and encouragement fou us in our faith.  Like a shepherd, of course, our Lord  leads us, his sheep.  It is the Lord desires to lead us. He knows that often we don’t know the way. Our Lord wants to help us make the right decisions so that we will be living right and in accordance with right principles. That is what the psalmist meant by the  “paths of righteousness.”  Our Shepherd is a righteous God. He wants us to teach and help us to be righteous in all we do.  God really gets the credit because He is leading us and all that He does, everything that He wills to happen, and even everything He premits is for His great name's sake.  His name is honored and worthy so today,  let us worship Him.
