September 13 – Comfort Comes

“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you;” Isaiah 66:13a (NASB)

The Lord was speaking to His people during the days of Isaiah, His prophet. Our verse and promise of God's comfort is found within a prophecy of judgment on the nations and people who rejected God.  But for those who believed, God promises the kind of comfort given by mothers for their children when they need it.  Can’t you see a picture of a sobbing little child being comforted by their father or by a mother’s tender touch and by their reassuring words?  If you were ever a parent, you can remember how you comforted your little ones just when they needed it.  Even when we find ourselves in the middle of a trial or tribulation as Jesus promised we would encounter, we can believe our Lord's promises of comfort. When things go wrong, His comfort can change our reaction to the situation. Let us turn to our loving Lord and He will reassure us of His presence.
