February 17 – Nobody Knows The Trouble

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”  2 Corinthians 4:17  (NIV)

We live in a world that is not free of troubles.  We experience troubles of various kinds.  Our verse today reminds us that these troubles should be considered light and we should see them as momentary, fleeting, insignificant.  But that is not our normal response to troubles, is it?  The  promise we have here is that our troubles, no matter how considerable they are to us, are not eternal.   Any eternal trouble that might have faced has been removed from our future when we believed and accepted the gift of life eternal from Jesus Christ our Savior.  In eternity we will not face trouble – no tears, no sorrow, no death –  and that is why our attitude toward the troubles we encounter while living on earth as God's children should be considering  as brief and light.  Our verse tells us that we have a promise that beyond the troubles we can expect a glory which will last forever and that glory will be so significant and important that what is happening to us today will soon be a faded weak memory.  Hallelujah, Praise God!
