“For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” Says the Lord who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:10 (NASB)
The promise we look at today comes to us through the prophet Isaiah many years ago. We might look at the hills and especially the majestic mountains as being reminders of the greatness of God who created them. In our verse, however, God wants us to know that there is something more majestic and more enduring than the mountains for us to marvel about. Even the mountains can be shaken but God's care for us cannot be. God's lovingkindness is an unfailing love and it is forever for those who believe. Our promise reminds us that God's love for us will always remain, and so will His promise of peace. As we realize that God loves us this assurance gives us peace in our hearts even in the midst of a world of turmoil. Whatever challenges you are facing, let these words from our God produce peace in your heart today.
