April 13 – Fills Our Hearts With Peace

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” John 14:1 (NIV)

We have already mentioned during this week that the writers chosen by God to record for us what Jesus Christ did while here on earth used much space to record what He did and said during his last week. In John’s record we find three chapters devoted to his last words with his disciples before his death. The words we read in our verse today are well known words which fit our needs so often. We are sure that our Lord wants us to remember these words often. He wants us to trust in Him, to believe in him and if we truly do that he fills our hearts with peace. Yes, Jesus came to fill our hearts with His joy and His peace. As we continue on this week’s message of His love for us in dying on the cross let’s remember the comforting our Lord gave us through John’s gospel.
