April 12 – Eagerly Desired

“When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” Luke 22:14-15 (NIV)

During his last few days before he was crucified, Jesus spent a lot of time teaching the people who had come to Jerusalem for the Passover festival.  He knew His time on earth was soon coming to an end and He arranged to have a Passover meal with His disciples. Jesus had been living with His disciples and walking with them for about three years. He knew his last chance to have close fellowship with them was this Passover and He had been looking forward to it. He tells His disciples that this was the last time on earth that they would share this important meal together.  His words were “I have eagerly desired” We know that Jesus Christ eagerly desires to have close fellowship with us too and that can happen if we allow it. Let’s live close to him today.
