“With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.” 2 Chronicles 32:8 (NIV)
Yesterday we read some words of King Hezekiah when he faced a personal crisis of sickness. Today’s verse has the words of Hezekiah that he spoke to His people who needed encouragement as they faced attacks by their enemy – the army of Assyria. King Hezekiah knew that there was a greater power with God’s people than with the army of Sennacherib king of Assyria. The army of the enemy has some great fighters but their power was all physical. God’s power was and is greater. Hezekiah knew God would hear their prayer and would save them. Before the enemy army came closer to Jerusalem God sent an angel to bring death to thousands of them in the night in the middle of their camp. God fought for the people of Judah and He will fight our battles too if we trust him for with us is the Lord our God to help us fight our battles.
