“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,” Nahum 1:7 (NIV)

These words were written many centuries ago but there were troubles in those days too. People needed to be reminded how to handle their problems. In some respects the world may have changed since the days of the prophet Nahum, but the real remedy for troubles has not changed. And our God hasn’t changed either. The promise in this verse is still good. So what is the message of the prophet? It is that when we face problems we need to trust in the Lord. When we do put our confidence in Him, He will care for us. He will be like a refuge, keeping the real trouble from affecting us. What a wonderful God!
