October 27

“While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged Him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.”  Luke 5:12-13 (NIV)

First we read the request of the leper and then Christ’s response. I really like those words of our Lord when He said, “I am willing.” They tell us so much about our Lord. He is so willing to meet us in our needs today just as He met this leper long ago. There is no question about our Lord’s ability to meet our need and the leper recognized that. So when Jesus saw his faith He responded so quickly. And we notice that Jesus didn’t say, “Yes, I can help you.” He just said, “I am willing” and He acted immediately. Remember Jesus is able AND He is willing to help as your turn to Him.
