“We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds.”   Psalm 75:1 (NIV)

What does the psalmist mean by saying that God’s name is near? Can His name sometimes be far away and at other times near? The explanation is actually right in the verse we read. We read that people tell of the wonderful deeds which God has done and is doing. In so doing they, of course, mention the name of God. So that is how the name of God becomes near to us. It is when we tell what He has done or is doing when God does something for us let us be sure to talk about it to others. Then we are bringing His name near.
