“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

This verse is really about two different subjects. It is about material possessions and about spiritual reality. When we remember that material things are only temporal, for the time being, but that spiritual reality is forever, it help us to evaluate the two. To know and to experience God’s presence is of more value than our earthly possessions. If we believe God’s promise to always be with us that is all that we really need. If He is with us, He will take care of us and He has said He will always be with us regardless of what happens. That is why we can be content with what we have.
