“My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.” Psalm 57:7 (NIV)

The experiences we find in the songs of the Bible come from those the writer was going through. We can think today of how David reacted when he had to hide for his life in a cave. We may think sometimes that we face big difficulties, that the prospects are dark for us. But was not David worse off than us – hiding in a dark cave far from home and friends? Yet there he was singing and making music. How could he do it? Of course it was because he knew that God cared and had a purpose for him. He knew God was with him. He had no doubt. His heart was fixed on God and His power. We, too, can have that confidence.
