A shepherd, of course, leads his sheep and we recognize that our Lord wants to lead us. We admit that we don’t know the way. We need His help in making decisions every day. Our Lord wants to help us make the right decisions so that we will be living right and in accordance with right principles. That is what the psalmist meant by the “right paths” or the more familiar, “paths of righteousness.” Our Shepherd is a righteous God. He wants us to be righteous. When we live right our God really gets the credit because He is leading us. It gives Him a good name. Let us let our Lord lead us today along the right paths.

“He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3 (NIV)
