“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”  Jeremiah 2:13 (NIV)

Our verse today is from a message God gave through the prophet Jeremiah to His people who had been left behind in Jerusalem. The prophets often received messages from God to remind His people what they were missing in not obeying Him. Note here how God refers to Himself. He calls Himself the spring of living water. And the picture he wants to convey is that of a spring with clear, fresh water bubbling up – a wonderful source of refreshment. Well, that is what God says he is. As we face times that will test our faith, it is how we can experience living the Christian life, a life of faith. Our God can satisfy our deepest longings and that is what He wants to do today. So experience the satisfaction He wants you to experience today.
