“The Lord
reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.” Psalm 97:1 (NIV)
Is there any
encouragement more effective than a reminder of the character of our God? One
of His characteristics is His sovereignty. I trust that you are glad that our
God is in control, that He reigns over the universe. Of course, this world is
not without its troubles. It is not a perfect place. But God is the one in
control of things and He allows the enemy to go just so far in testing us. The
reason for this is that God is preparing us for the perfect place in heaven. So
we should all be glad that our Lord reigns. No matter what the situation is
today, our Lord is the same and He is sovereign.
