We must never think that as Christians we are on our own to live our lives as we wish. When we accept Jesus as our Savior we commit our lives to God. From there on we belong to Him. This verse says that we are God’s house. This has at least two meanings. It means that we belong to God. We are His property and He will take care of us. It also means that God lives in us. We call this the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. So we don’t go on living as we would like because God is living in us and we do well to be conscious of His presence and His activity in us.

“But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.” Hebrews 3:6 (NIV)
