It is well for us to remember what it is that God is looking for in us, His followers. This verse is a very clear statement of His requirements. All the way through the Bible it is very clear that God demands total allegiance of His followers. There is no room in our hearts for divided love when it comes to loving God. This is what He is looking for in us. He is aware of the other things that attract our attention. But our God is worthy of our total devotion. Let’s not allow anything else or anyone else to distract us from this. Love Him with your whole heart and be devoted solely to Him.

“The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere.” Deuteronomy 13:3-4 (NIV)
