We have a wonderful God who is willing and eager to help those who come to Him for help. But we must never forget that He expects us to meet the conditions that He has set. After making a promise to answer prayer, He sets the conditions in the above verse. It is not enough just to ask God for help. We must keep our minds and hearts free of doubts because they can come and go and only leave confusion. Our faith must be fixed on God’s love and power to act in our behalf. A doubting heart is like a stormy sea. Keep your faith focused on God.

“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.” James 1:6-7 (NIV)
