“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
It is good to be reminded of truths which we have known before. It is good to come back to words in the Bible which we have read before and may be very familiar to us. It is good to be reminded that God’s way of looking at things is far superior to our way. God’s way of solving our problems is far superior to anything we could come up with or imagine on our own. So, when we are reminded of a truth like the one in our verse today, let us be sure that we trust His divine wisdom to work things out for us. Nothing can be better than to know that as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God’s ways higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts.

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11 (NIV)
We may have interpreted this verse as referring to memorizing Scripture. It is true that when we memorize a Bible verse it is like hiding its message in our heart. And it is also true that a verse that we have memorized can come back to us some times to warn us against doing something wrong. But let me suggest that we can also hide scriptural truth in our heart without really memorizing exact words. So when we hear the truths of God’s Word taught we can accept them for ourselves and make them a part of our living. They will then help us to live right and avoid doing something wrong. So when we hear God’s Word, let us do as the psalmist did – hide it in our hearts.

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1 (NIV)
One of the most assuring truths recorded in the Bible is about what God thinks of His followers. What God said to His people in the Old Testament days is true about those who have believed in Jesus in our times. We have been redeemed, purchased out of slavery to sin. Jesus paid a price for us on the cross; therefore we belong to Him today if we have accepted what He did. Your name is recorded in heaven. Our relationship to God is so personal. He can call us by name and He thinks of us as belonging to Him. So accept this truth as pertaining to you for God knows each of his children by name and calls to you by your name.
