March 19 – Not One Failed

“Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” Joshua 23:14 (NIV)

After Moses lead the people of Israel to the border of the Promised Land, Joshua succeeded Moses and became their leader. He led the people as they took possession of the land promised to them by God. Under Joshua's leadership the promised land and so many more promises given to the people were fulfilled by God. The people had lived for many years under Joshua’s leadership and under God’s blessings. Joshua reminds them that God was faithful in every promise He made. God keeps His promises to us too. If you have depended on Him to keep His promises to you I'm sure you have experienced His faithfulness. So why not thank God for keeping His promises to you? As Joshua said then, you can say now, “every promise has been fulfilled, not one has failed.”

“Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.” Isaiah 55:2 (NIV)

God wants His people to live lives that satisfy, truly fulfilled lives. And He knows that true satisfaction is spiritual satisfaction. He wants our soul to be delighted, our spiritual needs to be fulfilled. And He explains how this comes about. He says, “Listen, listen to me” How do we do that? God has spoken and His Word is recorded for us. If we want to live fulfilled lives and have our spiritual needs met, let us pay attention to what God says in His Word. Let's listen to Him.

“Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”  Joshua 21:45 (NIV)

We need to be reminded of the faithfulness of our God in keeping all His promises. Joshua mad this statement after the people of Israel had taken possession of the promised land and the land had been parceled out among the families. Joshua had been their leader but he recognized that it was God who had planned it and enabled them to do it. God had fulfilled every single promise to them. He has made promises to each of us, too – many of them. He’ll keep His word to us as He did to Israel. Just think of some of promises God has given to you.
