January 22 – From Tears To Joy

“Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting.”  - Psalm 126:5 (NASB)

For those who believe that our life as Christian believers should be free from all trouble, grief, hardship, or conflict, are often challenged by words such as these in our verse today.  We are promised a way of escape from temptations but we are not promised a life without any trials or difficult circumstances.  We are promised instead that God will help us through those times. And when tears are many and sorrow is great we are promised comfort if we persevere. The trials and testing we find ourselves facing are allowed by God to help us develop endurance in our faith.  Charles Stanley reminds us that “God never pretends that this life will be free of hardship or pain, but He insists that, for those who know and love Him, our tears are seeds that will one day bloom into enormous joy.”  Our promise today is that joyful shouting follows tears and weeping. And we believe that one day, all the tears will be wiped away.  But that day is not today.  Today we persevere  by faith in God, believing our Savior Jesus who promised us, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
