“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.” John 17:17-19 - (ESV)
Once the the disciples of Jesus finished their last meal with Jesus, He looked to heaven and offered a prayer to God on their behalf. Not only for His disciples but He prayed for them that would also believe through the word of those who proclaimed the Gospel. That means Jesus was praying for us as well. Jesus was praying for our sanctification which is our being set apart to serve God for a special purpose. It is our testimony to the truth of God's offer of salvation to all who believe. That is our purpose, to proclaim to others how He loved us and gave Himself to bring us to Himself. How we live and what we think, say and do makes up our testimony to this truth. We have received this purpose and promise that we have been sent into the world.
