“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
* The Whole Armor of God
In this letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the believers assembled in Ephesus, he gives instruction regarding the spiritual armor we are to put on - The Whole Armor of God. This promise in the form of an admonition and instructs us in what to do once we have put on that armor (see the note*). We are not called to just dress up in the armor but to put it to use and to do that requires prayer for all things and all people. God wants us to be active in the spiritual battle in which we are involved while we live here on earth. We therefore are encouraged to pray as part of that battle and to be praying in the Spirit. This means that we must allow the Holy Spirit of God to guide us in our praying. When we accept Jesus as our Savior Gods sends His Holy Spirit to abide in our hearts to be our guide. One of the ways he guides us and helps us is in our praying. What we pray for is therefor according to God's will if it is in the Spirit.
