“The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, And his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; His steps do not slip.” Psalm 37:30-31 (NASB)
We have selected two verses today but we will focus on the promise in the second verse. Let us remember how important it is or to pay attention at all times. We pay attention to where we walk, what we say, and even what we think. God has given us instructions in our Bible that we will also do well to pay attention to. Like the surefooted mountain goat who knows where and how to stand on the narrowest of ledges and not fall, God's instructions to us make us surefooted. In order to know how God wants us to live we need to read the Bible and to listen as other read it for us. But there is more, and we need to go beyond that. We don't just read word in the Bible or listen to others preach it or read it, we take the words into our heart. Through faith believing we make God's instructions and guidance a part of our whole process of thinking and speaking. It affects how we live and walk. It promises to protect us from slipping. A slip-up can do great damage so to avoid that we fill our hearts with the desires God has given to us.
