June 3 – Abiding Words

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”  John 15:7 (NASB)

Jesus spoke these words during the last time He gathered with His disciples around the Passover table.  He knew that his time on earth was coming to an end and He was about to face crucifixion, death, and that He would rise again and return to heaven.  He gives these promises to his disciples and they are promises for us as well.  The truths that Jesus taught His followers were not only for those alive then, but we believe His teaching was also for us who live today and follow Him.  His words are in us as they are in our lives because we have committed to live according to them.  We have this promise that God hears us while His words abide in us, and He will provide what we ask for according to His will.  Today, let's take His words and make them a part of our life through faith and walk according to them.  God is with us to provide all we need and all we need is to ask him.
