“For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” Hebrews 13:14 (NIV)
The Lord God whom we serve is eternal and He wants us to be aware that He has prepared us for a time that we will be living with Him throughout eternity. Just contemplating that causes us to fill with awe and joy knowing that what is ahead is not what we have now. What we have now and where we live will not endure. Our home where we live now will someday be completely destroyed and gone. But we are promised and we are hoping with assurance that the promised eternal city is to come. It is well that we find enjoyment in the places where we live now. We can thank God for the provision and help He provides for us. We can enjoy and rejoice in the marvelous world around us but we are not here forever. Our forever home promises greater enjoyment that will exceed anything we have experienced here. That is what we are eagerly looking for. It is with faith that we look toward the time we will be with God in heaven as He is our Heavenly Father. It is His promise to all His children, we believe it, and by faith, we trust and know it will come to be.
