“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NIV)
Maybe today what we need is to be filled with joy and peace. This is what God wants for us but often the worries and challenges of this world make such filling difficult. Today we are reminded of the richness of the blessings which come to us through trusting in our our Lord. We read that as we trust in Him, He fills us with joy and peace. It is certainly true that trusting in the Lord gives us peace. Whatever it might be that disturbs us needs no longer to be of any concern when we put our trust in His promises. When we realize the peace that comes over us because of our trusting our God, we respond with joy and thanksgiving to God. One more promise we have in this verse is the promise of overflowing hope that comes to us through the power of God's Holy Spirit. He is the God of hope and the hope He gives us is assurance that His word and promises are true. Overflowing with hope that come from the joy and peace we receive through trusting Him is a promise we can live with and live on every day. Let's do so starting today.
