February 28 – Perfect Intercession

“...but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently.  Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”  Hebrews 7:24-25 (NASB)

Our verse today reminds  us of the continuing nature of our Savior's ministry for us.  When Jesus died on the cross for us, that was to pay the price for us to come into God's family.  We were barred from being a member of God's family because of our rebellion and rejection of God and our sinful disobedience and we needed forgiveness.  So when we accept the forgiveness offered to us because of what Jesus did by dying for our sin of rejection, we become children of God.  Full members of God's family.  Our verse today reminds us that  Jesus is still working for us.  When we pray to God in the name of Jesus He knows it and Jesus prays for us.  That's what makes our prayers effective. Our verse also reminds us that the intercession of the Son of God is able to save us completely.  Jesus is involved in our Christian living as we pray to God in His name.  Let us continue to pray and remember that He is praying for us as well.
