January 5 – Drawn by Love

“The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.””  Jeremiah 31:3 (NASB)

In the writings of the prophet Jeremiah we have a promise to cling to.  What Jeremiah wanted the people to know, and what God  wants us to know, is that God is still loving His people just as He always has in the past.  We selected this verse because we want to emphasize what we believe, and that is God is always loving us and will never cease to love us.  He draws us to him with lovingkindness which is everlasting.  God does not change.  I believe the two promises in this verse can guide us through each day and especially when times are hard and challenging.  Sometimes we may wonder but we can trust that God loves us as He always has and He brings us close with his mercy and steadfast love that never changes.  We have experienced this and we know it is true. Let's fix it in our minds to help us when we need the grace and mercy of God to press on through whatever our never changing God allows to come into our lives – it is because He loves us.
