“Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.” Psalm 90:1 (NIV)
Moses, who is the author of this song was thinking of the experience of God's true followers who had lived before him, and also of his own experience. Now those many centuries later we can still express our feelings to God in this way too. So what do we mean if we say that God is our dwelling place? It, of course, is another way of saying that by faith we rest upon God's promises to us and we continually rely on His love and His faithfulness. To dwell means to remain. A dwelling place is a place that we consider our home. We use the term “to feel at home” when in such a place. It is our wonderful privilege we have as God's people to feel at home wherever we are as we rely upon God love and His care for us and trust His promises to us. His promises are the fuel that helps us continue each day walking with Him.
