“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” Acts 20:32 (NIV)
The words recorded in the verse for today were spoken by the Apostle Paul and then recorded by Luke, the author of Acts of the Apostles. The occasion was Paul's farewell to the Christians at Ephesus and are the last words he spoke to them in person. Paul could leave his friends with confidence because he knew that God's Word would help them to grow. If that was true in those days, it is more so today. They had the Old Testament as we have but we also have the New Testament. Yes, God has given us His Word in the Scriptures, our Bible. His Word will build us up and make us stronger and stronger as we read, learn, and obey it. God's word is also a rich treasure and it is part of our inheritance that God has given to us. We have this promise, that it belongs to us because we are God's Children.
