September 30 – All Day Activity

“Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” Psalm 25:5 (ESV)

Our chosen verse for today is part of a prayer which the psalmist David used in a song.  We are thinking today of the last part of this verse as something that we can make real in our lives today.  The Christian life is to be lived not just occasionally but throughout every day.  As important as spending time each day in God's Word, it  is not enough to read and pray in the morning and then pray as we retire in the evening after spending a day without much thought about God's promises.  We need to be connected to the truth of God and experience it throughout the day, all day long.  The psalmist says here that all through the day his hope was in God.  We must remember that hope is an attitude of expectation.  So we can join the psalmist in looking to God, expecting Him to teach us through every hour of the day.  That is what the normal Christian life is like.  Today, let's keep this in mind and keep the promises of God in mind all day long.
