“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.” Psalm 84:5 (NIV)
Today we are especially thinking and focusing on one word in our verse. The word is “pilgrimage.” We think of pilgrimage as of a journey that a person is taking through an area where he or she does not belong. A pilgrim is on his or her way to a place where he or she belongs. So, who is the blessing of our verse for? It is for those who recognize that this world in which we live is really not our home. We are on our way to our heavenly home. So the blessing is for those who have set their hearts not on things of this world but on heavenly things or spiritual things. And we do well to remember that God has promised to enable us to carry on in the strength that He provides and puts into us. Whatever our journey on this pilgrimage, God is always with us giving us what we need to continue. Trust His promise today.
