April 26 – One Through Glory

“The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,” John 17:22 (ESV)

On the night before His crucifixion Jesus shared much with his disciples including a prayer for them. In the first part of the prayer Jesus prayed that God would glorify Him with the glory He had before the world began. Then, near the end of the prayer Jesus prayed for us as he prayed for who would believe in Him through the message of the apostles. Today's verse records part of what He prayed about us.  Just think, Jesus knew which ones of us would believe in Him. And think of His plans for us before He died – He planed and made a way for us to become one with God by believing in Him. He wanted us to experience His glory, so he gave it to us.  He wants us to experience His glory every day, a heavenly glory far beyond anything we find offered to us in this world. This is one of the aspects of the Christian life promised to us.
