“. . . while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” Titus 2:13 -14 (NIV)
We have a wonderful Savior and He has great plans for those who believe in Him. He is our Savior because he died on the cross for us to pay the penalty for our sins. Our verse today reminds us that He did this with two purposes in mind. Jesus died for us in our place to redeem us by paying the price we owed in order to make us His own. If we have believed in Him we belong to Him. And, by having died for us Jesus can then purify us and He is working in us to make us pure. He is praying for us each day and working in our minds and hearts to make us pure and to keep us pure. That is God's great desire for each of us. Let's be eager to see this accomplished.
