“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,” Ephesians 1:18 (NIV)

We know that a major portion of the New Testament of our Bible is made up of letters written by the apostles. Many were written by the apostle Paul. In these letters Paul mentions how he was praying for those to whom he wrote. Today’s verse is an example from his letter to the Church in Ephesus, to the Ephesians. A prayer like this is for each one of us who believe in Jesus today. There are many things that we need to learn today just as the Christians in Ephesus did. When Paul prayed about the “eyes of their heart” he meant their spiritual eyes, their spiritual perception. There is much for us to perceive spiritually and there is much to understand about spiritual things. We can learn about what God has made available to us so, let us let God open our spiritual eyes, the eyes of our heart to receive from Him.
