November 10

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. …so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,” Colossians 1:9a-10 (NIV)

If we are true believers we will want to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. We are told that we can please the Lord by producing fruit and by growing in the knowledge of God. Now these last words can inspire a question for us. How can we grow in the knowledge of God? Do we do that by reading what the Bible tells us about Him? That would give us an intellectual knowledge of Him. We need to go further by allowing Him to show us how true these teachings are. To grow is to experience His love, His faithfulness, His power and His nearness. That is how to please God.
