March 5

“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”  1 Samuel 17:45 (NIV)

We all know the story of David, the shepherd lad going out to face the giant Goliath. As we read this verse we note that David did not say, “I come against you with a sling and five stones.” He wasn’t trusting in what he had in his hand. He was trusting in the Lord. That’s why he was the victor. We face problems some times which are like giants. Let’s not trust in our abilities to meet these problems. The way to overcome is to trust the Almighty God. Let’s face our problems as David did saying, “I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.”
