“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” John 10:17-18 (NIV)
It is clear that all we have been thinking about concerning our Lord’s death had been decided long before. Jesus had talked about His death and resurrection several times. Jesus knew from the beginning that was his purpose for coming into our world. And every part of this plan was devised for our benefit. The enemies thought they were in control. They would seal the grave and keep Him in. But they could not. Jesus had the authority!
