As we have opportunities to hear the preaching or teaching of God’s word, we are reminded of what should happen when we hear God’s message, or even when we read it for ourselves. What is it that should happen? It should affect our hearts and our eyes and these effects are closely related. God’s word gives joy to the heart. If your heart is full of joy it will show in your eyes. That joy will shine out. Might this be true for you today.

“The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant giving light to the eyes.” Psalm 19:8 (NIV)
